SAILING AND WATER SPORTS
The sea and waterways draw the panorama of this fertile land, naturally suited for water sports. There are a great number of schools and centres where you can learn to sail mono-hulls and catamarans and ride a surfboard, and there is no lack of water-skiing and swimming schools, the latter giving lessons both in the sea and in swimming pools. Windsurfing boards skim swiftly on the calm waves of the Adriatic and many beach establishments hire them out and also supply instructors. Keen canoeists can choose between sea excursions to the river-mouths, or to the salt pans and the peaceful canals of the Po Delta Park. Gliding along silently in your canoe you can experience extraordinary encounters with, among other things, herons and water-lilies.
Romagna, with its variety and wealth of landscapes offers amateur cyclists the chance to choose different itineraries, of all levels of difficulty, both for road and mountain bikes.
From the wide and flat coastal plain, the land rises up towards the hills of the Marecchia Valley, ideal for training sessions or rides, to explore the traditions of Romagna or follow more complex routes, with steep climbs worthy of the great champions, who can often be met along our roads.
Yachtsmen can use the coastal yacht clubs for service and moorings for catamarans, mono-hulls and pleasure craft in general. With a capacity of more than 4000 berths over one hundred and ten kilometres of coastline, the Adriatic Riviera tourist ports and docks offer top quality services. From June to September (some begin in April) the sailing and yacht clubs organise sailing and windsurfing courses with instructors certified by the Italian Sailing Federation. The courses are at various levels, geared to the participants' abilities.

Sailing and Yacht Clubs of the Adriatic Coast
The Adriatic Coast of Emilia-Romagna is a natural school for anyone wanting to learn seamanship. All along the coast sailing, including windsurfing and catamarans, is the sport par excellence, especially in summertime, when Aeolus - god of winds - blows light and constant breezes. The sailing club instructors of the Adriatic Coast know this well and offer simple recipes in which theory and practice are perfectly blended. Beginners' courses in the morning to learn the rudiments, while the afternoon - when the Easterly and Sirocco winds pick up - is dedicated to advanced courses and competitive sailing.
